Wayside Chapel: Pit Stop for God
by Peg Boettcher

Too busy to chat with your Maker? If you commute along State Route Two between Monroe and Sultan, you have no excuse. Pull over to “Pause, Rest and Worship” at the teeny tiny Wayside Chapel. Complete with steeple, pulpit, and seating for eight souls, the chapel was dedicated in 1960 and is supported solely by donations and volunteers. Record your prayers in the notebook provided, but expect nothing but spiritual relief… as the sign outside states plainly, “No Facilities.”

The Wayside Chapel may be found along the Stevens Pass Highway, just east of Fern Bluff Road, in a small but well-lighted parking lot. Visit it 24/7 — “The door is always open; the light is always on.”
